The bi-annual “Hats for Hope Community Hat Party & Auction”, will be held Sunday, September 16th, from 1pm to 4pm at:

The San Luis Obispo Country Club, 255 Country Club Drive in San Luis Obispo.

The event will includes; music, appetizers, wine and live & silent auctions and our traditional hat contest will award; “best of show”, “most fanciful” and “most unique.” You will have the opportunity to bid on live & silent auction items including; local art, wine, sport memorabilia and weekend getaways.

Margie Bowker Art Show to Benefit Hats for Hope

Talented Santa Barbara County artist Margie Bowker will have her artwork on display and for sale at the Santa Maria Country Club. The show will be open to members and non-members alike from Monday October 3rd 2011 until the end of the month. She has generously offered to donate 10% of her proceeds to Hats for Hope. Margie paints original watercolors, pastels, and oil paintings. Her fine art includes embellished gicless, art tiles, and note cards. For more information contact Margie Bowker at 805 937-0665.
Mr. Rick from Rick’s Limousines has kindly donated a “special,” if you can put together a party of 5 to 6 people, he will collect you all at a designated location and drive you to the club where you can enjoy a delicious lunch before enjoying the art show. Mr. Rick’s special price is $15.00 per person for the round trip which should take 3 to 4 hours. This includes anyone from Nipomo, Arroyo Grande or Santa Maria area. The club lunch is excellent and the prices are reasonable. Please keep in mind we accept cash and checks only, unless you have a club member with you. Additionally, Margie’s watercolor painting titled “Home before Dark” has been published by American Art Collector’s Book for 2011. The original painting will be on sale in October.

Hats for Hope provides $2500.00 Grant to Marian Hospital Foundation

When the six founders of Hats for Hope were initially sitting around the table in 2001discussing the needs of the cancer community and where charitable funding might be needed, one common goal always was present: the charity being created would raise funds to provide something that is not covered by insurance AND would help women with their self esteem during or after cancer treatment. After much discussion, the wig program was established in 2002.

Additionally, in 2006, Marian Medical Foundation presented Hats for Hope with a cancer related need that was not covered through other programs…..funding for mastectomy patients in need of prosthesis, bras and various other related items. This met the criteria originally discussed with the founders of the charity. It was at that time Hats for Hope began their Grant Program to Marian Medical Foundation for women who do not have the resources to cover these items.
